Solana · token accounts · rent

Your SOL is sitting in empty accounts.

Every token you ever held got its own account, and each one locks a small SOL deposit called rent (roughly 0.0015 to 0.002 SOL). Sell the token and the account stays, empty, holding your SOL. Paste a wallet to see exactly how much.

How it works

Closing an empty account returns its rent.

Solana charges a refundable deposit, called rent, to keep any account alive. A new token account locks about 0.0015 SOL; accounts opened before Solana's 2026 rent cut usually hold 0.00203928 SOL, and Token-2022 accounts a little more. RentBack shows the exact amount each account holds. When the balance is zero, the owner can close the account and the whole deposit comes back to the wallet. You lose nothing: if you buy that token again, a new account is made.

Do it in your own wallet

  1. Open your wallet app. Phantom and Solflare both list token accounts and have a "burn" or "close" option for empty or unwanted tokens.
  2. Pick only the empty ones shown here. Closing needs a zero balance; anything else would have to be sold or burned first.
  3. Read the wallet's own confirmation. It should show SOL coming back to you, never going out to a stranger.
  4. Skip the flagged rows. Frozen accounts, accounts with withheld Token-2022 fees, or accounts whose close authority is someone else cannot be closed by you yet.

RentBack never asks you to connect or sign. Be wary of any "rent reclaim" site that does and takes a cut you did not agree to.
